Best Aquaculture Practices certification remains in effect for one year from the date of final certification approval by BAP Certification Management. In each successive year, facilities must undergo a site inspection and pay a recertification fee based on production volume. Facilities have up to 60 days past the recertification date to complete recertification.

Processing plants must pay an inspection fee of U.S. $5,000 prior to the inspection and a recertification fee of $2.00 per metric ton of product exported, with a minimum recertification fee of $2,000 and a maximum of $12,000. Farms pay an inspection fee of $3,000 and a recertification fee of $1.00 per metric ton produced, with a minimum fee of $500 and maximum of $4,000, subject to possible exceptions for small facilities. Shrimp hatcheries pay an inspection fee of $3,000 and a recertification fee of $500.
