Job Description:

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) program integrity manager’s primary responsibility is to help oversee the certification process and integrity of the scheme for all of the BAP standards (aquaculture farms, seafood-processing plants, feed mills and hatcheries). Scheme integrity and certification body performance monitoring are key components to ensuring the standards are properly interpreted and implemented and that certification bodies and their auditors are adhering to the policies and standards of GAA BAP. The program integrity manager would also assist in a variety of other related functions and in development of the program and business.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Assess certification body audit status, audit results and auditor performance
• Report deficiencies to certification bodies where appropriate and review corrective action progress
• Assist in review of new certification body applicants
• Analyze program statistics and track trends
• Develop or assist in the development or revision of policies and guidance
• Assist in maintaining accreditation requirements
• Assist in standards review or revision as needed
• Assist in auditor training course material development and teaching
• Attend industry seminars and events as requested
• Make presentations regarding the program as requested
• Assist in business development
• Interface with facilities and retailers and assist in public relations regarding the GAA and the BAP standards
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of five years’ experience in the seafood and aquaculture industry at the processing plant, farm and hatchery level
• Three or more years of direct experience with one or more of the GAA BAP standards.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field such as aquaculture, food science or fisheries science
• Three or more years experience working in the seafood and aquaculture industry in Southeast Asia, Asia, Latin America or Africa
• Successful management experience
• Ability to prioritize, organize, multi-task, problem solve and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in the application of Seafood HACCP
• Experience in auditing principles and multiple certification standards in at least two of the following: BRC, SQF, Global GAP, ISO 9000, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001 or ASC
• Experience in the accreditation requirements of global schemes
• Professionalism and good verbal and written skills
• Proficient in English, written and verbal
• Team oriented, flexible and adaptable
• Enjoys fast-paced environments and learning new things
• Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally
